I know you are a busy person; but trust me I have heard all the excuses possible.

I have a full time job; I have a Family; I am a busy person; etc; etc;

Well besides the feel good buzz you get for giving back to the Community; You can gain so many skills that can assist you in your working life; that you are not necessarily taught in Business.

Volunteering can provide a healthy boost to your self-confidence, self-esteem, and life satisfaction. You are doing good for others and the community, which provides a natural sense of accomplishment. Your role as a volunteer can also give you a sense of pride and identity.

I personally can vouch for this as I have been brought up in a culture of always being part of the Community and giving back.

During my time of volunteering I have learnt how to manage teams of people, how to make a successful team; communication sills, styles of Leadership, administration skills, the list goes on; it has even allowed me to become a successful trainer/facilitator/presenter.

With working in Business I am able to interweave these skills into play and vice a versa. So it makes me a much more viable person as a Manager or employee and looks good on any CV.

I personally have got a lot out of volunteering; my mental health has improved no end and my confidence has sored!!!   So for me living alone it gave me reason to get dressed and go out each week and meet new and existing friends; with this has come the chance to work on new projects and ideas to keep me occupied when I am not out in the community; this has prevented me from thinking about my own situation of being on my own as I always have something to do ready for the next evening out volunteering.

While running my own business it is coincidental that my referral partners are in some way attached to the Scouts; perhaps we just seem to be drawn to each other.

As some of you know I am heavily involved with the Scout Association; and we offer a 4 week challenge

Volunteer for just four weeks and be amazed at the difference you’ll make.
Week 1 See what we get up to
Week 2 Start to help out
Week 3 Get a little more involved
Week 4 You’ll know if it is for you.
Any help is truly amazing. This can apply to any organisation in the Community that you can volunteer with
